Saiida Lebanon: A Sea Castle Visit
The sea castle was built in 1228 by the Crusaders to protect the Holy Land.
The castle was built on an island which the ancient Phonecians used to worship a god similar to Hercules.
The castle was destroyed by Mamluk ( slave soldiers) so that it could not be used again by the Crusaders upon return.
We found Saiida to look like a typical "middle east" city. The skyline seen from the castle of the city was exotic and enticing to explore further.
